Annual Service Provision Report

FCA actively works to counter this [gang] trend by being among one of very few agencies in South Florida that specializes in servicing gang-related youth. FCA has shifted the paradigm of at-risk youth counseling by combining elements of criminal justice, community empowerment, and mental health to provide wrap-around services to traumatized clients. By acting as a mental health service provider, offering services at a sliding scale fee, FCA works in collaboration with referral agencies such as Eckerd Re-entry, the Department of Juvenile Justice, Youth Bureau, Family Center, and Courts to ensure that at-risk and gang-affiliated youth complete their sanctions and successfully integrate into society.

What Is FCA?
Thu, Nov 03, 2011
The most distinctive feature of FCA is its utilization of the L.E.T.S. Pass It Forward Program. This program means to provide opportunities for positive interaction between youth offenders and law enforcement by utilizing cross-age mentoring and leadership training to encourage citizenship, accountability and respect for their family and neighbors. Law enforcement officials receive extensive training from certified professionals on working with gang-affiliated youth and various mentoring skills. Law enforcement mentoring consists of four stages: re-education, family therapy, mentoring and work skills.
